Step 1: Make Donut Dough

In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, caster sugar, melted margarine, yeast, beaten egg, warm milk and lightly knead to form a dough. Cover dough with plastic wrap and place in a warm place for at least 1 hour.

Step 2: Fry Donuts

Lightly flour the cutting board and roll out the dough to about 1½ cm thick. Use a donut cutter to cut out circles of dough. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan on medium heat. Fry donuts for about 2 minutes on each side, until they are light golden brown in color. Transfer the donuts using a slotted spoon and drain the donuts on a paper towel to remove extra grease.

Step 3: Coat the Donuts

Roll donut in sugar and cinnamon coating. Spread icing over each donut and decorate with sliced almonds, flaked coconut, chocolate candies. Your donuts are ready.

  • 350g White Flour
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 30g Caster Sugar
  • 50g Margarine, melted
  • 7g Dried Yeast
  • 1 Large Egg, beaten
  • 65ml Warm Milk
  • Vegetable Oil, for deep fry
  • Pink Icing
  • White Icing
  • Chocolate Icing
  • Sugar or Cinnamon mixture
